Make sure that your futon passes all safety standards! Be careful, many futons do not meet these qualifications! Rest assured. Futons sold in the United States are required to comply with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's cigarette smoldering flammability standard, 16 Code of Federal Regulations 1632 (16 C.F.R.). This standard is equivalent to California Bureau of Home Furnishings and Thermal Insulation Technical Bulletin No. 106 and measures the resistance of a finished bedding product to cigarette smoldering ignition. This law label will be secured on all Otis Bed Futons.
***Futons sold in California must comply with Technical Bulletin 106 (16CFR 1632) AND compliance with Technical Bulletin 117*** Be advised that this is standard for finished products only; therefore, compliance of any individual construction component with Technical Bulletin No. 117 (or any other similar small-scaled flammability standard) cannot be used as proof that the finished futon complies with Technical Bulletin No. 106. Why is this important? |
