Apprenticed by previous owner/grandparents on all machinery, materials, and mattress building skills.
Both Innovator/ Co-Inventor of 4 US Patents
Designed specialized mattresses for many well known nationally recognized companies like, Dupont and Gaymar Industries. Many are utilized in Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Special Care Wings & Facilities, College and Universities, The Ronald McDonald House, and also on Navy boats for the overseas US Troops.
John is known for extreme perfection in all he produces. His flawless techniques in mattress building and highly specialized upholstering skills changed the entire futon/mattress industry when he reinvented the Futon Mattress and designed the first “cottonless” futons, (e. mostly HD foam futons, and foam encased innerspring futons.)
Known for his R&D and innovations, this forward thinker is a life-long resident in WNY and father of 4 who takes pride in designing sleep and cushioning systems that are comfortable and extremely high performance. Otis Bed Manufacturing would not be where it is today without his paramount craftsmanship and leadership!
Carol Roma, Administrative
Co-owner of Otis Bed Manufacturing since 1977, but was weaned at Otis Bed since childhood.
Daughter of previous owner, Chet Obstarcyyk, and wife to current CEO
She serves as the Secretary/Treasurer on Otis Bed’s Board of Directors
Co-Managed 4 retail Otis Bedding Showrooms in WNY
Known for her organizational and managerial skills, this highly respected and admired mother of two and grandmother to 4, heads administrative decisions alongside her husband of 43 years. Carol can be found in WNY surrounded by her family or relaxing on the Floridian shores, depending on the time of year!
Karen Day, VP Marketing & Sales

Elected to serve on the FAI Board of Directors as a Director in 2002

Karen is now the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of FAST

Known for her creative and out-of box thinking, Karen resides in Scottsdale Arizona, but travels extensively. She can be found promoting Otis’s high performance sleep and cushioning systems at Furniture and Bedding Shows across the country shows or on the golf course!
Tim Deboy
Employee of Otis Bed Manufacturing since November 1995
2004 was an emergent year for Tim; he was promoted to the Plant Foreman position. Tim achieved this position from his extensive technical knowledge of all machinery, expert craftsmanship, and his focused leadership abilities. Tim’s management of the crew and the raw materials allow Otis to become a stronger and more efficient manufacturer of high performance seating and sleeping cushioning systems.
Diane Askey
Employee of Otis Bed Manufacturing since November 1992
Diane manages Production, Purchasing, Receivables, and Payables. Diane has an Associates Degree in Accounting and prior to Otis Bed, worked in Public Accounting for 15 years, while she raised two sons. Diane and her husband, Jim, were born, raised, and still reside in the Metropolitan Buffalo NY area.
Valerie Roma
Employee of Otis Bed Manufacturing off and on since 1988. Valerie's experience with Otis Bed is varied...for her early years were committed to local retail sales and in the more recent years, she is more involved on the manufacturing level ! She is the multi-tasker who will offer assistance in customer service, order processing & shipping, as well as sales-both retail and wholesale. Valerie, a well-respected mother of three, currently resides in the suburbs of WNY with her husband (our very own Vice-President of Otis Bed!)
